About Laurie Prusso, BA HDEV, MEd, CPDA
Laurie Prusso is a teacher! She teaches children, adolescents, students, parents and other teachers. Her workshops are inspiring, experiential, exciting and dynamic. She has taught in virtually every type of setting where parents or teachers are involved. Her love and passion are evident in all of her work.
As a full-time professor of Child Development at Modesto Junior College in California, she brings to the field of Child Development and Early Care and Education a vast amount of experience and knowledge. As the mother of 6 grown children, all sons, she has been through all of the stages of their lives and now, as a grandmother, she understands more than ever the value and importance of nurture, patience, understanding, and teaching young children. Career experience includes preschool teaching and directing, adult education, intervention programs, and full-time instruction.
She is an expert on Developmentally Appropriate Practice, the stages and sequences of development, and above all, she understands how to teach Positive Discipline. As a trained Certified Positive Discipline Associate (CPDA), Laurie has spent many hours teaching and training parents and educators in effective and life changing skills that improve the quality of their families and classrooms.
As a parent educator, she has worked with parents and families in and out of the school system and as a private consultant. As a consultant and trainer, her clients include Community Colleges, After School, Head Start, and State Preschool, Recreation and Parks, Public, Private and Not-for-Profit agencies. Her work helps them improve their staff relationships and their teaching of children to enhance learning.
Laurie provides the tools and insight that bring joy to parenting and teaching. Her parent and teacher training provide personal development and leave participants feeling revived and excited.
